Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect in our first session?
Our first session is a chance to get to know each other. I’ll ask some questions to better understand what brings you to therapy, what you’re hoping to work on, and any relevant background. You’re also welcome to ask me questions—about my approach, what therapy might look like, or anything else you’re wondering. The goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable, seen, and supported.
How long will sessions and the course of therapy last?
Sessions will last around 53 minutes and can be scheduled weekly, biweekly, or monthly, according to your preferences, availability, and needs. Many clients start with weekly sessions to build momentum and consistency, but we can adjust frequency based on your needs and goals.

The course of therapy may run anywhere between twelve weeks and indefinitely. Some clients may need a few months of therapy to kickstart their healing and get themselves back on track. Some clients are “lifers” and find the routine check-ins and therapeutic rapport beneficial to their wellbeing for years. And anywhere in between. The answer depends on a variety of factors but will absolutely be something we discuss.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, I do. Please refer to the Insurance page for more information.
Do you offer Telehealth or in-person sessions?
Both! I offer in-office sessions to clients in the Asheville area and provide Telehealth services to clients across the state of North Carolina and South Carolina. We’ll find what works best for you.
Can you prescribe medication?
No, I cannot. While I’m not able to prescribe medication, I offer referrals to prescribers in your area that can meet your needs. Therapy is one piece of the mental health puzzle, and if you choose, I can work collaboratively with other providers to help support you.
What is your approach to therapy?
I provide therapy that’s thoughtful, collaborative, and just the right amount of lighthearted conversation and connection. I blend cognitive, narrative, and existential techniques with somatic practices and emotion regulation tools to support mind-body healing. As a solution-focused therapist, I’ll help you tap into what’s already working, what’s worked in the past, and take practical steps toward the life you want—no endless digging required. If you’re ready to feel more grounded, resilient, and empowered, I’m here for it (and for you).
What if I don’t understand your approach?
Therapy talk can sound like gibberish and nonsense, so that’s totally fine. In layman’s terms, it means I treat everyone as an individual and cater sessions to your preferences and needs. It can be helpful to address things from multiple points throughout our lives: past hurt you’re holding onto, current roadblocks taking up space in your mind, and specifying a desired future you’d like to work towards. If you’d like a less formal and stiff explanation, I encourage you to reach out for a consultation call. I promise I’m not a robot.
Is therapy confidential?
At best, yes. Information shared in therapy is privileged information and I am ethically and legally bound to uphold confidentiality. There are, however, a number of circumstances I would be required to break this confidentiality. These reasons are below:
-
If there is suspected child, dependent adult, or elder abuse
-
If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person
-
If a client intends to harm themselves. I will make every effort to work with the client to ensure their safety. However, if the client does not cooperate, additional measures may need to be taken
-
If my records are subpoenaed by a court of law
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Life happens! I ask for at least 48 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice may be subject to a late cancellation fee. This fee may or may not be charged, depending on circumstances and history of attendance. We will discuss the details of the cancellation before anything is charged.
