Hi there.
It's nice to meet you.
My name’s MaryAnne. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor in Asheville and serve the state of North Carolina virtually. I am also a Licensed Professional Counselor in South Carolina and can meet with clients virtually that reside in SC. I work with adults struggling with anxiety, depression, life transitions, trauma history, grief, relationship issues, and disconnection. Please continue reading to see if we'd be a good fit.
Now accepting new clients.

About Me
Hi, I’m MaryAnne, and I’m glad you’re here.
Humans are pretty cool. We can spend time on causes or things we care about, travel to faraway places, or get a tattoo just because we can. But we can also struggle managing emotion, beat ourselves up internally, or even hurt our friends and family emotionally. These things make us uniquely human, too. Depending on your needs, we may focus on hurt from the past, current struggles, or working toward your desired future. This is your life and I'm just here to empower you to live it.
We are all unique and need something a little different from counseling, so I use a person-centered approach where client needs/desires dictate modalities used. I blend cognitive, systems, and somatic (body-based) approaches, but at my core I'm a solution-focused gal. Therapy (and just life) can be hard, so I try to help clients leave feeling momentum and like things are shifting in a positive way.
We may be a good fit if you're looking for a therapist who is also a human, who is authentic and will try to hold you accountable, or you want to connect on a person-to-person level. Also, humor can be an integral part of healing, and I may try to lighten the mood and bring some levity to the therapy space. No guarantees you'll actually think I'm funny.

Services
Couples & Family Support
(For Existing Clients)
While my primary focus is individual therapy, I occasionally offer short-term couples or family sessions for existing clients when it supports your personal work. These sessions can be helpful when you’re navigating conflict, making decisions together, or wanting to improve communication with loved ones. This is always something we decide collaboratively and intentionally, based on your goals and current needs in therapy.

Individual Therapy
Most of my work centers on individual therapy with adults navigating a wide range of experiences—stress, anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, grief, trauma, identity exploration, and more. Whether life feels off track, overwhelming, or you’re just seeking a new direction, therapy can offer a meaningful space to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with yourself.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect in our first session?
Our first session is a chance to get to know each other. I’ll ask some questions to better understand what brings you to therapy, what you’re hoping to work on, and any relevant background. You’re also welcome to ask me questions—about my approach, what therapy might look like, or anything else you’re wondering. The goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable, seen, and supported.
How long will sessions and the course of therapy last?
Sessions will last around 53 minutes and can be scheduled weekly, biweekly, or monthly, according to your preferences, availability, and needs. Many clients start with weekly sessions to build momentum and consistency, but we can adjust frequency based on your needs and goals.
The course of therapy may run anywhere between twelve weeks and indefinitely. Some clients may need a few months of therapy to kickstart their healing and get themselves back on track. Some clients are “lifers” and find the routine check-ins and therapeutic rapport beneficial to their wellbeing for years. And anywhere in between. The answer depends on a variety of factors but will absolutely be something we discuss.
